Roebuck Estates press reviews

A roundup of our latest press reviews …

We love nothing more than receiving a glowing review and we’ve had quite a few so far this year from some of the UK’s leading wine writers. This vinous bunch arguably have the finest palates in the country and taste hundreds of different wines from all over the world searching for the best selection to recommend in their wine columns. We’re always thrilled to learn that one of our wines has been featured as it’s a reassuring nod that we’re on the right track but most importantly of all, wine drinkers get to discover our wines, which is what it’s all about for us. We’re super pleased to share these fantastic reviews with you and so, here’s what they had to say about our flagship wine – 2014 Classic Cuvée.

SPECTATOR LIFE – Wines of the month, 14th February 2020:

“This English sparkler from vineyards near Petworth, West Sussex, was completely new to me and it quite bowled me over. A classic blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, produced in the champagne method followed by lengthy oak-ageing, it was a worthy winner of a gold medal at the recent Wine GB Awards. With zingy citrus and warm toasty brioche and a touch of cream, it’s a very sophisticated and stylish fizz indeed.”

DAILY MAIL WEEKEND MAGAZINE – A scorching selection showcasing some of our finest independent wine specialists, 7th March 2020:

“This newly released vintage is the finest wine to date from the brilliant Roebuck, made from chardonnay, pinot noir and pinot meunier grapes. Smooth, ready to drink and with none of the high acid or unripe notes which we try to avoid in English fizz, this is a sultry, suave, seamless beauty.”

BBC GOOD FOOD ONLINE – The 12 best English sparkling wines reviewed, 10th March 2020:

“A new one to me and by God, it’s good. The nose is like marmalade with bitter Seville orange notes, lots of ripe fruit on the palate too with a full nutty finish. Close your eyes and you could be drinking Pol Roger.”

THE TELEGRAPH MAGAZINE – The best booze to buy this Easter, from beer and wine to spirits and non-alcoholic drinks, 4th April 2020:

“This sparkling is a new discovery; only the second vintage, yet mightily impressive. Lemon curd and spice sit over a yeasty, brioche-infused core – it’s intense but fresh.”

– Susy Atkins

INDEPENDENT – 15 best English sparkling wines to drink this Summer, 1st May 2020:

“This multiple award-winning pale straw-coloured wine is only the second release from this west Sussex producer and it’s both rich and sophisticated, with delicate bubbles and great balance. You get sumptuous citrus fruit on the nose – think bitter orange and fresh lemons, along with cooked apples that lead to a toasty taste with hints of truffle. Located near the historic market town of Petworth, the wine producers set out to create something complex, refined and with real depth, and we think it’s got it spot on. Goes very well with mussels or scallops.”

– Kate Hilpern
