Filming with Michelin star chef Marcus Wareing
Marcus Wareing – Michelin starred chef and restaurateur – visited us last year to shoot a feature on English sparkling wines as part of his brand-new documentary series. Marcus Wareing’s Tales from a Kitchen Garden follows Marcus as he steps back from his hectic schedule to spend more time pursuing his dream of living, growing and cooking in the beautiful English countryside.
Filmed in the autumn of 2021, Marcus travelled the length and breadth of the country, meeting some of the most dedicated farmers, gardeners, and producers in a quest to discover the secrets of planting and growing seasonal British produce. He then puts this newfound knowledge to good use on his smallholding in East Sussex.
In episode 3 of the series, Marcus comes to see us at our Hazelhurst vineyard, overlooking Bewl Water reservoir, as he has heard that English sparkling is competing with some of the best wines in the world and wants to learn more. He is joined by our General Manager, James Mead who shares his knowledge and expertise on how to successfully grow classic sparkling wine grapes in Sussex.
The first episode of Marcus Wareing’s Tales from a Kitchen Garden aired on BBC Two last week. But don’t worry if you missed it – you can watch the full series on the BBC iPlayer. Or even better – why not pop a cork and enjoy a glass or two of our delicious English fizz whilst watching the episode.
