We’re delighted to announce the release of our debut sparkling wine from our NEW Reserve range produced in the incredibly warm and sunny 2020 vintage, which is now available to buy at Majestic Wine – all stores and online.
Staying true to our philosophy of crafting exceptional vintage sparkling wines every single year, the same meticulous care and attention has been given to our Roebuck Reserve 2020. Produced from handpicked grapes grown at our beautiful Sussex vineyards, our new release is crafted from a harmonious blend of Chardonnay (56%), Pinot Noir (29%), and Pinot Meunier (15%) grapes. Carefully selected bunches were harvested by hand and gently whole bunch pressed followed by a generous period of ageing in bottle.
2020 Growing Season
The 2020 growing season was incredibly warm and sunny, resulting in an ideal flowering and fruit set, and earlier than usual harvest. By September, the fruit was beautifully ripe with perfect acids, and we could be incredibly exact on picking dates.
Jake Wicks, our Head of Viticulture, adds, “we aim to make sparkling wines that are the finest expression of a particular growing season and producing great sparkling wines requires time and patience. Our Classic Collection wines – Classic Cuvée 2017, Rosé de Noirs 2017 and Blanc de Noirs 2015 were all released after a minimum of 36 months ageing in bottle. However, when we tasted our Roebuck Reserve 2020 after it had spent just 24 months ageing in bottle, we were blown away by how it was showing and knew we had something special on our hands.”
Label Design
A contemporary taste needs a contemporary look and feel, and our new Roebuck Reserve 2020 has a brand-new design: a front label with our signature Roebuck deer taking centre stage in gold foiling along with a uniquely designed neck label showcasing our five parcels of land in Sussex.
